Like so many of our native marsupials, virtually ALL they need to thrive is some remnant bushland, and elimination of introduced predators including cats, dogs and foxes.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy are demonstrating this so perfectly in their sanctuaries all over Australia.

It's the topic everyone in Canberra is talking about and now thanks to ChaserBet, you can win big on this bizarre story!

I managed a farm close to the Dryandra National Park WA in the late 90s. There were a few numbats being seen in our remnant bushland by the time I left there, because I relentlessly eradicated every feral cat and fox I saw.
Numbats are such gorgeous critters, and not exclusively nocturnal either.

Mate, I'm all over this vibe 😄

Simply a 10/10 beach experience to swim here (albeit watchfully 🐊 ) on a completely deserted beach.
Needless to say, the water temperature is bliss.

Volume UP*

* or not, it's so quiet. 🥰

Forget kayaking at Ardyaloon, the tidal flow here on this full moon is the most massive current flow I have ever seen on the ocean, pouring into and out of King Sound.

Catch this outgoing tide, and you might end up in West Timor, which is the next landfall behind those islands.

Ardyaloon feels like you are stepping away from modern Australia.

It is a closed and private community, on traditional lands. There is no alcohol allowed here. Drone photography is banned. There are no jetskis. White visitors are not permitted here after dark.

There are also very few tourists.

This is Ardyaloon, on the saltwater country of the Bardi and Jarwi peoples, at the tip of the Dampier Peninsula 210km north of Broome WA.

It's hard to put into words how stunning this place is, and it is an incredible privilege to be graciously permitted to visit here. 🩵

There is a wood-fired bakery at Lombadina that fresh bakes bread a coupla days a week.😋

Going to check out the bakery and the beach at Djarindjin today, and then maybe a paddle at Ardyaloon up at the tip of the Peninsula.

Stay salty, folks ✌️

Dingoes trotting on the low tide beach this morning, inspecting the campsite.

I kept a close eye on 'em ;)

The west side of the Peninsula experiences some of the biggest tides in the Kimberley, the 9.5m high tide last night lapping at our campsite high on Quandong Point.
The hermit crabs know the full moon tides are here, they were crawling everywhere through the campsite, maybe seeking high ground?

The Dampier Peninsula north of Broome is deeply spiritual country for the Jabirr Jabirr people.

There are still taboo areas here that are off limits for ALL humans.

The fierce snake spirit Walmadan protects the James Price Point area, it just feels sensible to tread very lightly here🧵

I've been on Cable Beach for the last few days, so for entirely unrelated reasons i'm voting for the Wedgie 😉🦅

There is a plaque outside the old telegraph station at Fowlers Bay mentioning Jimmy, and also at the Eucla end. His story was astonishing, the bloke must have been an extraordinary bushman.

I hope his family are compensated for his work, including 101 years of accrued interest on the payment.

Its an eye-opening film, the stats about the gas industry's contribution to the WA and Federal economies are astonishingly minuscule.
And enraging.

Broome is a birdwatchers paradise, especially in the lead up to the Wet season.

Anyone else here who loves birds, you have to see Broome one day 📷.

Also, be prepared to be astonished at the colours in this landscape 💙🧡🤎

There are constantly so many raptors soaring the skies here. 22 of the 24 raptor species in Australia are regularly seen and nest in the Roebuck Bay area, including numerous majestic white-bellied sea eagles. 🦅

Vast flocks of seabirds migrate here from Siberia, stopping only once to feed & rest in the Yellow Sea, between mainland China & the Korean Peninsula.

Tourism pressure on Roebuck Bay is increasingly stressing these bird colonies and the Yawuru Custodians are worried for the future of these birds.

The azure tides of Broome's Roebuck Bay in the Yawuru Nagulagun Marine Park expose over 170km² of mudflats at low tide.

This is the world's richest known intertidal wetland 🐦‍⬛

More than a third of Australia's total bird species list frequent this bay region, which is Ramsar-listed since 1991 🧵

I had a Save Scott Reef tee shirt on today in Bunnings Broome, and swapped glares with a stale pale superannuant male wandering around proudly wearing a Rebel News t shirt ffs. 🙄

I may have accidentally stumbled into him with my shoulder as well ;)
