It's not a new design, it's just them without actually needing to use the "normal troll" form,the same body model as pop,rock, and others who follow the same body style.
It's a middle ground in terms of form; that is,they don't want the original form,but they also don't want to erase who they are.

But I dare say that stupidity is a defense mechanism for his mind. He is intelligent and has to make decisions for his people at all times.
Everything is exhausting: visions during sleep, hallucinations sometimes, paintings, meetings, arguments. Buddy is only stupid in order to protect himself.
