Here’s a stellar Christian scholar documenting the state of Chicago, ICE actions, protests, and church interactions over the last weeks. It’s definitely worth reading. It’s also worth googling Joey Cochran to see his credibility www.patheos.com/blogs/anxiou...
Everyday Evangelical Resistance For My Chicago Neighbors
Historians talk about the danger of presentist history. They rarely talk about what happens when presentist history is unavoidable.

We are at a unique cultural moment in America. All the research tells us that young men are coming to church. Yet, the crowd's historic hunger is for entertainment, food, met needs, and political gain. Jesus instead asks for self sacrifice. www.youtube.com/live/Jgsuiz2...

What was the name of that building? Do you have a photo? What was the history? I remember being told it was just abandoned during all the troubles. My sermon will be from Luke 14:25-35 where Jesus tells about an unfinished tower 2/2
Friends and family in or from Uganda - Can you help me with a sermon illustration this week? I have a memory of an unfinished building that had a crane left with material hanging above. It was across from Christ the King Church or Blacklines House in Kampala 1/2
This Sunday I preached on a text in Luke’s Gospel we rarely discuss at church. Jesus proclaims 6 woes upon religious leaders. I was surprised at how attentive the church was and the nodding heads. Many of us have been wounded by greed and wickedness at church www.youtube.com/live/2eqH1yA...

Thank you all who have sent encouragement and prayed this week for my sermon on Six Woes Jesus spoke in Luke 11:37 - 12:3! As I finished my sermon preparation this evening and came home to cook dinner the gentle fall rain brought this double rainbow with late fall colors and a sunset. I am hopeful!

When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned because agents will “promptly let the individual go.”

For these Americans, that wasn’t true: https://propub.li/47aawMD

"The gospel of Luke is radical because it declares that Samaritans, foreigners, and the disdained — such as the 10 men affected with leprosy in 17:11-19 — are models for people of faith."
