The president—who is the ultimate finger on the switch—does not have to take part in any of the nuclear drills that all other participants in the chain of command have to practice. Secondly, all others in the chain of command have to take a mental health test except, again, the president.

Consumer protection groups, why don’t you toot your own horns for once? More than any recent election, the issues on the table this year were consumer issues—landlord/tenant, childcare, mass transit, healthcare, utility costs—especially electricity, rising food prices and so on.

GOP Speaker Mike Johnson has shut down the House of Representatives for 41 days. This provided a great opportunity for the House Democrats to hold shadow hearings in all their committees on Trump’s major destructive programs with prominent witnesses open to the media.
