I'm a Canadian artist living in Toronto. Initially I painted landscapes but the pandemic changed me and now I paint everything, except abstract, but it's still early.
Oils, watercolours, textiles
This was pretty scary to paint after all these weeks painting autumn colours. I need to do more work on the birch trees but I can see where I’m going.

I felt like I woke up in a Charles Dickens novel this morning. Grey skies, snowy rooftops, dark dreary homes, smokestacks belching into the sky. In real life that smoke is steam that dissipates into the sky and the houses and businesses are about to perk up.

Project will be slightly delayed while I await the replacement blue at the top with a darker shade. Shoutout to East Coast Quilt Company in St. John's, Nfld for their expertise in choosing colours based on emails and photos. They're the best!

Enjoying the steam and ice of Heated Rivalry? You're benefiting from the Canadian government's commitment to culture and inclusion, to the tune of $3.5 million, plus tax credits. Such a Canadian story -- diversity, socialism, and hockey. Major bang for the buck.

The Canadian TV show Heated Rivalry is winning fans all around the world β€” including Culture Minister Marc Miller, who calls the show a Cancon triumph.

I've had a few colonoscopies, polyps but no cancer. I have a few friends who were found to have colon cancer, got surgery, doing well.

That's beautiful, almost cozy.

New work about to begin. This is the fourth step with this image. It's a lot of work but it'll be worth it.

There's a lot of graphic gay sex. If you're ready for that, I definitely recommend it. It's interesting to me that women are going wild for it is a comment on the men/masculinity we deal with in our lives. It re-orients a lot of that thinking. If you watch, commit to watching at least 3 episodes.

Typo - a lot of angst

I keep watching clips, reading analysis and listening to the music to hang on to this feeling.

I was not aware of how concerned and consumed I've been about the state of the world. It's played constantly in my thinking for so long. Is the show a temporary reprieve, a reset, a delusion? I don't know. But for now, I can feel my thinking changing. My painting is flowing, my sleep is easier. /

It's not even the romance. I think it's the happiness. There's a long of angst too but it's a happy story. No villains. No violence. Good friends, good romance, mostly good parents, attraction, happiness, growing, love. I found myself turning off tv and radio and looking up the actors, the music. /

I'm not the typical audience for Heated Rivalry. I'm 68, straight, female. Since last week I've watched the series 3x as well as the corresponding Empty Netters podcasts. Honestly I think it's changed my brain. Not the hot sex, not the bodies, not the unabashedly Canadian references. .../

Hello, #PortfolioDay!

Blair is my name, and I spend a LOT of time travelling on public transit in Toronto, Canada.

While most of my subject matter is transit related, I enjoy the beauty of a good sunset, urban and rural landscapes, and the odd sign or two.

Thanks for checking my stuff out! πŸ™πŸ’™

This is still a work-in-progress but I love it so much, I’m not only afraid every time I work on it, I’m afraid to breathe around it.
If I manage not to wreck it, it’ll be off to @paeartforacause.bsky.social for the 2026 fundraiser.

What was your #childhoodcinema?
The old Roxy on Main St. in Markham. Sat matinΓ©e was 25 cents in the late 60s. In the 70s walking home after the Friday night show was a great time for teen romance. The building was the original Town Hall before it became a theatre. I think this photo is 40s or 50s.
