Author and historian of queens, empresses, and all things royal and imperial
The red and green jewels were designed specifically for Sisi's Hungarian coronation. They, along with the rest of these pieces, are of great historical value. They belong in the Sisi Museum in Vienna. None of these belong to the Habsburgs, they belong to the Austrians.

Not that he didn’t already know, but now Trump knows for sure he can roll the Dems every time and there’s no need to negotiate for anything
November 10, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Exactly. It was a horrible mistake to take this deal. Now Democrats are complicit with Republican policies. What did everyone go through all the pain of a shutdown for if not to see it through and protect healthcare?? The Democrats definitely need new leadership
i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Hmm. A diamond from Maria Theresa's time, and which adorned her husband Francis's crown, is not "personal jewellery." It is literally the definition of a crown jewel.

I knew it. The second they took the bulky crowns instead of the Regent Diamond, which fits easily in a pocket and is worth more than anything else in the room, I said no way these guys are hardened professionals. They probably fell for a scam buyer on the dark web.

Louvre heist work of petty criminals, not organised crime, prosecutor says
The audacious daytime robbery of historical jewels worth $102 million from the Paris Louvre museum last month was executed by petty criminals, rather than professionals from the world of organised crime, the Paris prosecutor said on Sunday.

I'll bet they took Empress Eugenie's emeralds and the Regent Diamond--the largest of the Crown jewels. It was known for being cursed and is clearly living up to its reputation!

Governor Pritzker's analysis is spot on. This is exactly what Trump is doing, and what he will do in 2026, if he isn't stopped now. This is why he called the generals together. And don't look for help from the Supreme Court, the majority will be right in there with him.
Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"

This is an accurate assessment of the hatred aimed at Meghan Markle. While I was working on my last book, to give a sense of what Sisi endured, I checked the press on Meghan. She endured ridiculous allegations on multiple conservative sites EVERY SINGLE DAY.
