For #randomgamesaturday, I’ve got Popful Mail for the Sega CD. This is a Working Designs Game so, of course, it has a unique/bizarre localization, ramped up difficulty, and their characteristic voice acting. It’s a really fun game though and I wish there were more ways for people to enjoy in English
But Z-A isn’t a key card? Or has the fact of key cards just kind of poisoned the whole concept for you? I really hate game key cards and plan on not ever buying one but I do still want to buy the few standard game cartridges that exist for Switch 2.
Which set is this? The B&O?
I’ve only been playing the demo for a few hours but, man, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter just hits so right.
100% agree. I find the deluge of AI-generated slop very disheartening. I think it is one reason I have pivoted hard into retro gaming/tinkering, MiniDiscs and iPods, and building a blu-ray collection. There’s plenty of things from the past that I missed and that are new to me.
Not sure how into modding hardware you are but I replaced the hard drive in my old iPod with a microSD card and it’s great. It’s really nice to know I have a device with my own stuff on it and no one can take it away from me or change it. There’s even iPod games! Playing Classic Peggle is awesome.
Happy birthday to one of my favorite games!
Been playing Knuckles’ Chaotix with my 7 year old in 2-player mode. The thing about that game is it’s really bad.
I have a distinct memory of Gametap having 32X games in its library. I believe you were the only company to ever offer a legal way to play Knuckles’ Chaotix other than from an original cartridge. I think that is still the only case. You all also had Saturn games! This also hasn’t been done again.
Who doesn’t want to own two CIB copies of Jurassic Park for Sega Genesis? In all seriousness, great haul. So many good games.
Got to be Jurassic Park: Trespasser for me. I inhaled every bit of concept art, rumor, developer interview. Needless to say, I was a tad disappointed when it finally did release.
And you’re also doing that other person a great service. We WANT to talk about these things! What I would do for someone to ask me about retro console modification, repair, or anything soldering related.
I started listening to it. So cool of you to take the time to do that. My board suddenly stopped working so I have been troubleshooting it for the past few days and it is interesting to listen to your interview while I do that. Thanks for everything you do for the community!
Will we be able to install this on our regular MiSTer Pis?
Can’t wait to watch. This guy is my hero.
Good thing VPNs exist. It’s a sad state of affairs that this is becoming more common.
I’ll be waiting for that sick Motorola StarTAC to go on sale.

Those animals tore the whole thing apart.
you should be able to install the game from the cartridge to local storage without any need to connect to the internet. This is what PlayStation and Xbox does and it kind of sucks but it sucks a lot less than purchasing a digital license file stored on a plastic cartridge. 2/2
I know there has been lots of talk recently about Nintendo Switch 2 Game Key Cards. My take is that there is a solution no one seems to be talking about. If the storage medium is too slow to run the game from but you still want to own a complete copy of the game in physical form, 1/2
My expectations were really low so the gameplay video has exceeded them. Definitely agree though. The low-fi aesthetic of the original has so much more character and atmosphere that the remake doesn’t deliver. It is, however, a Panzer Dragoon product in the year of our Lord 2025 so I will be buying.
This actually looks a lot better on-screen than it did in those screenshots.
