Pantastic, my man. The proof is in the pudding.

You know what else is a good sign that white Leftists align with Nazism sometimes? Harassing Black women online instead of the Fash.

It’s almost like there’s a bias there that lead you here instead.

And that bias is the basis of Nazism.

Huh.

The New York Times publishes a handy guide to which federal forces are terrorizing us at any moment. This is America, 2025.

This logic is wild. If the problem with the GOP is the racist, sexist, and greedy leadership, then if the Dems allow our leadership to be racist, sexist, and greedy what exactly is the difference between us there “Dr.” Deb? Like why not just keep the current set w/Nazi tattoos and call it done?

Folks talking about the next Dem president in 29 are still clinging to “can’t happen here.” Folks imagining that there’s any demographic inherently immune to fascism are holding on to a version of “it can’t happen here.” 3/

Ran into a former student of mine now at Oxford. Her question was about persistence of “it can’t happen here.” That seems mostly gone—even freakin Ezra Klein now acknowledges actual civil war is a possibility—but I think it lingers in other ways… 2/

I still meet brilliant scholars in their fields, real committed leftists, who don’t grasp just how much Trumpism rose in reaction *against* Bushism. Who can barely believe me when I tell them in 16 Trump led chants against both Clintons & Bushes as part of same order—as they were.

That is, if you spend years trying to get people to realize the very real horrors of neoliberalism when most everyday people think it’s just “liberal” & fine or even good, it can be hard to accept that something worse followed. Even tho you know that’s what neoliberalism is fundamentally *for.*

Indeed. @antheabutler.bsky.social spoke about a panel about Projec5 2025 she & I did in December 2023 for a gathering of left—no, not lib, left—organizers. Most were dismissive, considered it unnecessary info. Ok. We all make mistakes. I sure have. But never too late to start learning…

After the panel, Anthea and I talked about some of the left intellectual resistance we’d both seen to recognizing scale of Trump. A theory: some scholars were more like neocon Francis “end of history” Fukuyama than they realized. Thought neoliberalism was culmination of bad…

Historian Colin Johnson, author of JUST QUEER FOLKS, said part of the work now *is* history. Part of how we got here was by even smart, progressive thinkers skipping rightwing history. Said he was amazed by people otherwise deeply versed who don’t know, for instance, about John Birch Society… 5/

An audience member asked about how we’ll fix things “after Trump.” Wrong q in a room full of historians. There isn’t a whole lot of “afterward” in US history. Massive paradigms linger. Sometimes for good—New Deal—sometimes not—Reaganism. Or, for that matter, the Civil War, never fully over. 4/

"banning AI in the classroom should be as uncontroversial as banning calculators in early maths"

*slaps table*

THANK YOU
cannot believe on some level I & my colleagues have turned the tide on this, but also it was in some senses inevitable as why not! Humans can do anything; we still have a way to go however of course, but:

banning AI in the classroom should be as uncontroversial as banning calculators in early maths
“I already ban the use of generative AI in my own courses, and as a promoter of master’s theses. I explicitly tell my students they won’t learn anything by using it. [...] A general ban is necessary, but nobody dares to say so.”

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.

Housing, food, healthcare—it's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.

lol hold the n*zi loving family members accountable because loving n*zis is WEIRD and like objectively terrible wtf LMAO

lol white people making excuses for terrible white people is the impetus of our current timeline. Accountability isn't an allergen and YET.
Ya’ll are still not listening either. They do Nazi salutes, they get Nazi tattoos, they’re in group chats praising Hitler, they read Mein Kampf and create policy, they meet with foreign Nazi leaders ffs!

How hard do you have to be punched in the face to realize you are being punched in the face?!!!
Yes, nazi loving edgelords run the government now. Do you know why? Because back when they were only going after marginalized people online, the rest of you told us to stop calling them nazis and ignore them. How did that work out?
