I bought golden retriever and kitten Christmas wrapping paper.

I don't even like wrapping presents.

But how could I not?

My favorite part of the winter holiday season isn't the days themselves.

It's leading up to it. The way the houses in my neighborhood light up, more and more every day. The baking. The festive feeling in the air. How people we love are on our minds.

Pastor Black: While I was in the middle of using the words of Jesus, they opened fire on me. It was so clear that they had been so poorly trained, or — the alternative — that they had been deliberately told to escalate violence against peaceful protesters.

Also the Daily Salem Dispatch is a big goober. A study in her silly expressions while she’s on my lap.

Apropos of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, we felt like reminding you that @natania.bsky.social's first appearance on the show was Episode 73: This is Cerulean, Right?: Fashion, Politics & Power

Just. Y'know. In case you were wondering about such things.
Episode 72: This is Cerulean, Right?: Fashion, Politics, and Power, ft. NATANIA BARRON | Worldbuilding for Masochists
Fashion: not just a frivolity, but a component of worldbuilding that can communicate so much about your world's resources, industry, and power structures, as well as characters' individual choices and...

Jess bringing the realness.
Oh, hey--new (to me) nightmare fuel!

344-292 million years ago in N. America and Europe there was a millipede genus, Arthropleura, that could grow up to 2.5m/8ft long and appropriately wide.

An eight-foot-long millipede. (They found one recently in Northumberland that's estimated at 9 ft long).

The Daily Salem Dispatch is being a bit spicy. But that’s what kittens do: test limits.

She made up for it later with some cuddles.

HEY. I wrote words.

I feel like I might have exorcised something.

Also, learned about Old Irish vulgarities, and rock and cave formations in Cornwall.

Favorite line: "Now I see that you are contemplating an existence with that young knight well beyond a few fleeting fucks.”

Today's Fragrance is from the Advent Calendar I made for @boreasword.bsky.social & me.

Mooncake from D'Annam! It's honeyed confection, but yeasty. I get the salt and the egg yolk, but especially the mung bean.

It lasted. All. Day. Massive performance. 6/10 - nice to have smelled, but not for me.

My poor dog baby is limping and sad and he didn't even come try and get potential nibbles from me at dinner (I do not feed him from the table, or give him much human food, but once in a while...)

He must be in MAJOR pain. Having a dewclaw yanked out is no fun. (Yes he has meds.)

I fucking love Penzey's. Happy we have one of their stores here in town, but you should absolutely buy spices & cooking herbs from them. Their president's email newsletter roasts repiglicans on the regular as well.
day 1 is "penzeys revolution blend" and i cant stop laughing at "we have to GET RID of this lying, cheating, CORRUPT SCUMBAG PRESIDENT!! RESIST! REVOLT! REVOLUTION NOW!! good on roast poultry and carrots"

Watched the first two episodes of Heated Rivalry.

Cried.

Why?

Because they made queer love so beautiful. They lovingly filmed those scenes, tenderly built a story around these guys, and didn’t shy away.

Right now, that feels so important.
