Missed opportunity to not name it the “strategic reviewer reserve”
I came all the way to Coimbra wearing this silly t-shirt and @justinesherry.bsky.social isn’t even here 😭
There are many good ideas for improving reviewing culture in CS. But the core issues cut much deeper. So, while mechanism is important, we believe simple mechanistic fixes are unlikely to be effective. With NINeS, we are creating a community and a culture that is truly different.
NINeS: let's create a community that is welcoming of new ideas, constructive about flawed ideas, and humble about our ability to tell the difference.
Side effects may include:
* Unexpected bursts of creativity.
* A sudden urge to think big about what's next.
* Overuse of whiteboards for sketching new ideas.
* Occasional feelings of optimism about the future of computer science.
Benefits may include:
* Breakthrough ideas you didn’t know you had.
* Constructive reviews that go beyond “Needs more experiments.”
* PCs who actually read your paper.
* Sessions filled with insights, dialogue, and real community.
NINeS @nines-conference.org is the first conference specifically formulated to combat stale ideas, reviewer fatigue, and shallow program committees. By stimulating the community's collective creative pathways, NINeS will help restore energy, imagination, and genuine dialogue in networking research.
Tired of receiving one-line “reviews”? Ask your doctor whether NINes is right for you. for you.
I guess their grades weren't good enough for "GPA 43"? 😆

Colden was one of the fastest cyclists in Ithaca and a sometimes member of Team 545. The best mechanic in town, he built up a bike for me a few years ago. I’m shocked he’s gone but unsurprised by his final heroic act—putting himself in danger to protect others. RIP 💔

This week, we hear @natefoster.bsky.social's response to Why Nines? A cat is involved in producing the video, but like many good producers does not appear in the video.
I like to eat these chips this time of year. It’s so damn literal!
