I think Zhuge Liang as depicted in Three Kingdoms wins this matchup.

Zhuge’s observational and deductive skills are comparable to Sherlock Holmes. He’s also perfectly attuned to omens, to the point where he’s basically prescient.

Not sure Bats would be expecting that. Great matchup tho.

The Ma family threw everything they had at me in RTK8R today- and still lost 🎉

It was close though. Going up against Ma Chao is no picnic. Feels like half the times he’s doing area attacks that deal massive damage 💀

I finished the third Joe Leaphorn mystery about a month ago and I still think of it occasionally.

I think the secret sauce of those books is how well the personal arcs are done.

This is exactly it. The four devine beasts and all that really bring it in BOTW.

TOTK was good and fun and had epic moments but it wasn’t quite as focused.

Nice. It took a while but my son finally beat TOTK last year.

That game was really maligned by a lot of people who apparently took one look at it and decided it was exactly like BOTW (I thought they were quite different)

I went max expansion with Liu Zhang (purple) this time (instead of trying to rush Dong Zhou (grey).

It's working out. I hold a large area, which can provide resources for the inevitable fight with Dong Zhou.

I'm also recruiting away most of his officers, to administer my territory and that's 💯

The process of building bonds in RTK8R can be kind of tedious at times—that part could be better-but it’s pretty satisfying when it gives you a huge edge in the game.

It’s the main thing for winning or losing in that one.

Yeah def. But there’s a lot of stuff that’s consistent for the series, once you’ve got it down.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake leans into the quirkiness of the series and when it cooks it’s pretty good.

I do love how building bonds between officers is a key to success. Kinda unique

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games are largely about preparation.

If you prep hard and things go your way, there’s likely going to be an enormous payoff of seeing your plans fall into place.
It captures that vibe from the books well 💝
And you can capture a whole city by sending one letter🎉
