The meaning of words is to be decided not by their use, usefulness, or history, but by their commercial benefit to the most powerful lobby groups. I have a recipe for almond milk in a cookbook from 1226. It has been used as a term in English for hundreds of years.

It's my birthday next week, I've got a pond full of frogspawn, snowdrops are up, buds are on the hazel, hot water bottles are awesome, and when the sun comes out it's even more glorious for its rarity. Everything needs a rest and it makes spring so much more incredible. I love you, February.
Don't give anything an Emmy until it's as good as this.

The frogs have put so much spawn in the pond that it's literally spilling out of the water into the air. I do wonder if the grey heron who visits regularly is a factor - they'll lose the vast majority of the froglets so they just throw numbers at the problem?

How many times. Stop treading dogshit in on the nice new carpet.
After seeing the same clip of Farag* for the third time in my feed today, I need to say this:

If you repost the outrageous take of (any) fascist politician, you ARE amplifying their message, regardless of how smart or witty your takedown is. If you don't like fascists, don't broadcast fascists.

I went to my GP after breaking down at work, seeking help. He, I'm not kidding, listened to me for 30 seconds before pulling a replica pistol / lighter out of his desk drawer and passing it to me, said with a grin "this is the end to all your problems". Laughed, took it back, prescribed Prozac.
When my late wife, Colette, first went to see a doctor about her mental health, telling him that she felt sad all the time, the doctor did this. I kid you not.

Now I've got the Teardrops in Rain monologue, only spoken by Joe Pesci, in my head (which wouldn't have happened anyway, because Hauer significantly modified the script).
Joe Pesci is 83.
Pesci was Ridley Scott’s first choice for Roy Batty in Blade Runner (seen here in costume) but left two weeks into production.
Rutger Hauer stepped in & the rest is history.
