My favorite thing the CFP selection committee does is tell us that teams aren't close enough to each other to directly compare them (aka use head-to-head results).
But they're the ones who decided to put the teams 3-4 spots apart! No one forced you to do that!

I think it's pretty clear now that Texas has been eliminated from CFP contention. Longhorns down to No. 17. I don't think a top-3 win would catapult them all the way up to No. 10 — which looks like the cutoff point for the last at-large team in this year.

Big 12 releases a statement from commissioner Brett Yormark, with five CFP-ranked teams: "I am thrilled to see the Big 12 Conference getting the respect it deserves. I said at Big 12 Football Media Days in July that we would earn it on the field, and we continue to do that."
