Just got done with this John Sayles masterwork & I wonder if this had a heavy influence on Scorsese's KOTFM because it's so similar to it both in scope & themes of American capitalist greed and violence. Should have won a million Oscars but just like KOTFM it didn't win any.

I couldn't quite pinpoint why AWIAL's grainy textured aesthetic was so appealing. The more I think about it the more it feels like looking at an impressionistic painting on canvas from up close. Even the bleeding overexposed light in the end has a paint-like quality to it.

Funny she mentions the blue tarp here. She mentioned the same thing at MAMI but instead of "fancy buildings" she said Antilla (lol) and Anupama Chopra who was interviewing was ash white. She quickly muttered something to her and they moved on. This was just after Jio had pulled out of MAMI.

Rewatched The Irishman and I apologize profusely for not calling it the masterpiece that it is. Also, I think I'm in love with the way Scorsese chooses to end his newer films. Calm, like the gentle needle lift on a record player.
