#NCGA lawmakers are letting health care costs rise for state employees while giving $1B in tax cuts to corporations and the richest 1% starting Jan 1. Pausing those cuts would give NC the funds necessary to fully cover the 2026 State Health Plan deficit.

Food banks keep NC families fed and help kids avoid hunger in schools. But with federal SNAP cuts and no state budget, they can’t meet growing needs for much longer. Lawmakers must protect NC and invest in our communities now!

Restoring Medicaid provider rates is a band-aid solution. NC lawmakers approved $1B in tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations but failed to adequately fund healthcare for 3.1M NCians. It's time to pause the cuts, pass a budget, put people’s health first. #LoveNCFundNC

Did you know NC is the only state without a budget right now? Lawmakers’ inaction is putting us at risk, and the longer we go without a budget, the more strain it places on families across our state.

It's time to invest in our communities, #NCGA.
NC budget stalemate deepens strain on safety nets, health system, advocates and providers say
Food insecurity is rising, Medicaid cuts are hitting and essential services are shrinking as the legislature’s budget deadlock deepens strain on safety nets. Vulnerable residents are feeling the fallout first, providers say, and they’re calling on lawmakers to end the standoff.

A billion dollars could help North Carolinians stay healthy and receive the care they need — so why are lawmakers handing that same amount to the ultra-rich & corporations in tax breaks?

We deserve better, NC. Our lawmakers must halt these reckless tax cuts now!

The pathway to a thriving green economy runs through our community colleges. Yet #NCGA lawmakers chose corporate tax cuts over investing in the training infrastructure that benefits our entire state. We must fund the colleges that prepare our workforce!

All people deserve the opportunity to thrive. This means having the chance to develop one’s talents and skills and find meaningful and fulfilling work that pays a living wage. North Carolinians are starting to feel the strain from federal cuts to health care coverage assistance. Lawmakers must step up and protect our well-being by investing in our needs, not giving away more tax cuts to the ultra-rich and corporations.

#NCGA leaders have failed once again to show up and protect NC from harmful budget cuts to resources we rely on just to get by. We deserve better than empty chairs — we need lawmakers to stop giving tax breaks to the ultra-rich & corporations and start protecting our future.

Since 2013, NC lawmakers have enacted one tax cut after another, which now cost our state nearly $18 BILLION each year.

That’s equal to more than HALF of the entire General Fund budget — $$$ that could have gone to schools, hospitals or childcare.

Yesterday, BTC was present at the Mock Budget Hearing at the #NCGA. We need ALL our lawmakers to pass a state budget that protects us from cuts to the services we rely on.

Here’s one way to do so: pause tax cuts for corporations and the ultra-rich so we have the public $$$ to invest in our future!
