Even in uncertainty, we make room for joy, for community, for courage because joy is an act of resistance. Because hope is a form of faith. Because every generation must build its sukkah again — and promise: we will not abandon one another when the winds rise
Under the Canopy of a Shaken World. This Sukkot, the world feels fragile. Hope feels harder to hold. But Sukkot has always been a festival of fragility. We sit in open huts, under a sky we cannot control, to remember: our security has never come from walls, but from one another.
The shofar has sounded. The new year has begun. We stand resilient and ready—rooted in our values, committed to each other, and determined to meet the challenges ahead with courage and hope.
At Carolina Jews for Justice, this sacred work extends beyond the personal. We are entering a new chapter as an organization, guided by the call of our tradition to pursue justice, to strengthen democracy, and to build a North Carolina where every person is treated with dignity.
Dear CJJ Community, As we stand before the open gates of Yom Kippur, we pause to reflect on the year that has passed and the future we are called to build together. Yom Kippur is a day of cheshbon hanefesh—soul-accounting—when we look inward, seek forgiveness, and commit ourselves to renewal.
This week’s Torah portion, Va’etchanan, gives us the Shema — “Listen!” Listening is more than hearing; it’s a call to act. At CJJ, we listen to our neighbors, our communities, and our values, and we act for justice with all our heart, soul, and might. #Torah#Justice

As Jews, we are commanded to welcome the stranger, to pursue justice & to protect the vulnerable. We will continue to organize, educate & hold our elected officials accountable. North Carolina deserves leadership that prioritizes justice & compassion. Our work continues until that is our reality.
Gov. Josh Stein vetoed several bills that attack immigrants, public education, freedom of speech and much more. The NC General Assembly may start trying to override the veto of many of these bills as soon as tomorrow.
‼️ Please call your NC reps to tell them to vote NO! 🚫
