I still regularly converse with my creative writing college professor. A great writer and person, I still learn from him and I think he gets a little positivity from me.

I lost touch with Les over the years, but the kernel of me as a writer was formed there. We never had that conversation, though.

It’s hard to love people because one of you, at some point, is going to have to say goodbye to the other.

When I was a kid, my younger sister Kristin, my cousin Leslie, and I would walk around the block at Leslie’s house in North Tonawanda and make up stories/adventures. I think it might be the first bit of “writing” I ever did.

BREAKING: Our client Mario Guevara, an Emmy-winning journalist detained by ICE in retaliation for livestreaming law enforcement activity, will be deported tomorrow to El Salvador.

Why are people saying "this is not normal" over and over again, instead of "this is illegal" or "this is unconstitutional" or "this is treason?" Not normal sounds subjective, wishy-washy and neurotic. It communicates nothing of substance.
