A tunnel walk for an icon! Julie Lazure started as a phlebotomist in 1987 before becoming a nurse in 1989. She led several units, became an exec. dir. and the VP of Operations at Bellevue Medical Center. Julie is retiring at the end of the year. Thanks, Julie, for everything!

Interventional cardiologist Marvin Eng, MD, performed the state’s first UNICORN procedure — an advanced technique used during heart valve replacement to prevent the new valve from blocking blood flow to the heart.

Another first! Our Heart & Vascular team recently completed the 1st renal denervation procedure in Omaha—Laura Ramirez was the 1st patient. The Medtronic Symplicity procedure helps reduce high blood pressure, targeting nerves near the kidneys. Congrats to Laura and our ❤️ team!

These 13 women were the 1st grads of our Workforce Readiness Program. They met twice a week for three weeks to prepare to earn their CNA certification and step into an entry-level role at a Nebraska Medicine facility—their 1st step toward a potential nursing career! Congrats!
