Logged on to X for the first time in a few days and it was full of Elon griping about Netflix and people complaining about Netflix having a few shows that include trans people. Boo hoo. People exist in all shapes, sizes, colors and beliefs. If you don’t like a show, don’t watch. Why get so upset?

Our friend Jim Robinson passed away 5 years ago today. He was a Negro Leaguer who grew up in Harlem and went to NCA&T on scholarship. He was signed to the Cardinals farm system but requested to return to the Negro Leagues where he became captain of KC Monarchs and played in the East West Classic.

Mamie Johnson was born 90 yrs ago in Ridgeway, SC. She pitched 3 seasons in the Negro Leagues. The All American Professional Girls Baseball League refused her a tryout. That didn’t stop her from pursuing her dream. She talked to us about having 2 strikes against her: being Black and being a girl.

8/28/1963 the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place. It was a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement and a demand for racial and economic justice. MLK delivered his “I have a Dream“ speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It’s equally as important today. #civilrights

Congrats @hcspartanburgers.bsky.social on a fantastic event honoring the Negro Leagues on Sun. Spartanburg beat Greenville 9-8. Tons of kids attended and ran the bases after the final out. We produced a short film celebrating the legacy that played before the first pitch. #ANewEra #community

60 years ago today the Voting Rights Act was signed by President Lyndon Johnson. It became reality because of those who marched, sat in and peacefully demonstrated with resilience & humility. We thank those who never gave up and recognize how fragile these rights are today. #votingrights

Somerset Patriots honored the NY Black Yankees on Saturday with custom uniforms and lots of special guests, vendors and organizations. We enjoyed a perfect day/night at the park. The fanbase is going crazy for George Lombard Jr.

Willie McCovey made his mlb debut 7/30/59. When he first signed with the Giants he played for their minor league squad in Sandersville, GA. Negro Leaguer Bob Scott was his roommate. Bob remembered it well. #segregation

Happy 103rd birthday Rachel Robinson. An amazing human. Classy, smart, resilient, inspiring and the closest thing to Royalty we can think of in American. She’s created opportunities for thousands of students to pursue their dreams and impact generations. #Nationaltreasure #jrf

Minnie Miñoso played pro baseball in 7 decades. When we interviewed him he was in his 80s and had taken his final at bat just about 5 years earlier. He walked as the DH for the St. Paul Saints in an independent league game on 7/16/2003. #minnie #fortheloveofthegame
