I will win against nature.
Five months until my family reaches the Rubicon of telling me I'm a part of them or not.
I'll know in May which direction they want to take me. Either the road to acceptance or to separation.
It's been in the air for four years. This is the first big family event since I came out.

There are books I've read where I have trouble picturing scenes and characters
But every once in a while, there is a scene that is so well written and vivid that it lingers long after I've finished.

I was thinking earlier about how when Mt St. Helens erupted in 1980, it was earth shattering and destructive, but eventually the wounds healed to a new normal.
I feel like this is like my coming out. When it happened, it changed everything and destroyed some relationships. Now it's just who I am.

the hardest part about being trans is being forced to accept that your family probably kinda sucks, whereas if you're cis you can likely tolerate only seeing your lead-poisoned uncle a few times a year because "oh he's family". we don't really get the comfort nor convenience of cognitive dissonance.

I think the one thing that liberals and the remaining sane conservatives should be able to agree on: Steven Miller is an evil asshole.
If we can we at least agree on that, maybe work our way out and find ways to fix this mess together?

Someday when this all ends, and it will... We need to be ready to intentionally build something better on the ruins of our republic.
Something that guarantees protection of the poor, the marginalized, freedom, and has written checks and balances against corruption. Not just a handshake.
