And then you get this feeling of disappointment and even regret like "why is the world like this" we are in the fucking Zona with all the mutants and stuff and yet the biggest enemy is always another human.

Ah! I've noticed a similar thing with Stalker... Every human has a generated name and even that alone is enough to see them differently. Every fight with human enemies comes with a question of why it happened after. Some are simple to answer but some are like "this was entirely avoidable...

I've been there twice, once as a mandatory school trip, once with my family
I'll put it this way - I've had great history teachers and I've paid attention, and yet I felt like no amount of hours spent talking about the place can prepare you for visiting it.
