Changing my name for now as I’m applying for jobs so need to keep a low online profile.
Guys, maybe just knock it on the head. Greens are stronger than they’ve ever been. There’s no need or demand for another left-wing party. You’ll just end up hurting the progressive causes you claim to believe in.

Is “Max Tempers” happy now he’s stopped Motability users from driving premium cars even though it didn’t cost the taxpayer a penny? Imagine being that vindictive and wanting to hurt people for nothing. Also, what a coward, doing it behind a pseudonym.

If somebody had to travel 250 miles for a medical appointment then yes there’s a problem but the taking a taxi ain’t it

So give them a bus pass. Of course we know what the reaction to that would be.
Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis
The ban is set to come in February and any exemptions will have to be signed off by the Home Office.

Both here and in the US I’d be terrified if I wasn’t a citizen and would probably apply. But I’d also be thinking why would Trump or a mass deporting Reform government suddenly become good chaps just because you’ve got a naturalisation certificate. Still probably safer but don’t kid yourself.

The Times - taking advantage of a very old lady for clicks. If I were her son I'd be absolutely furious with them.
Her *6* bedroomed house in North Kensington. 6!

Sometimes wonder if papers have a moral duty of care in these situations. A lady who’s almost 90 is being ruthlessly mocked.

I know families sometimes fall out but why would you do this?

Anybody remember Crimewatch when they’d display mugshots and say “we’d very much like to speak to this man” like they were trying to track down an old friend they’d lost contact with? They’d sometimes add “if you do see him, please don’t approach him but call 999 immediately”.

I was chatting with a barrister at the other place about Brenda Hale’s new book claiming that court cases have become less dramatic and I was reminded of this rather lurid high profile case.

I mean, you don’t need to be a biblical scholar to know that tax collectors feature pretty prominently in the New Testament.

If Reform win, to paraphrase Neil Kinnock, I warn you.

I warn you not to be a non-British
I warn you not to have non-British family members
I warn you not to be a non-natural born citizen. You really think they’re going to respect a naturalisation certificate?

I know it’s a terrible reason but I wonder if talk of Miliband being PM is due to some sort of guilt. What if the country chose ‘chaos’? Still be in the EU. I’m not going to say how I voted in 2015 other than not Labour, something I bitterly regret

Breaking a manifesto commitment is obviously bad but I don’t thinks it’s unreasonable for an employer to be able to easily fire a new employee if they think it’s not working out. Two years is way too long. Six months (length of most probationary periods) feels right.
Worth noting that the same day these negotiations to ditch day one rights to claim unfair dismissal were going on (Monday), No 10 told us they would "overturn all attempts to scupper these plans, including watering down day one protection from unfair dismissal".

Do the “don’t have kids if you can’t afford it” crowd realise that just because you could afford something when they were born doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to afford it for the next 20 years. People sometimes lose their jobs, get ill, die, get left by their partner.

Other than making it easy to fire people I never understood why an employer would need two whole years, increased from one year by the coalition government, to decide if things were working out or not.
NEW - the government poised to water down flagship workers rights bill, ditching day one rights to unfair dismissal but reducing qualifying period from two years to six months.

But in concession to unions, government will remove provisions for up to nine months probation.

I know it’s the rough and tumble of the House of Commons but mocking somebody’s accent feels a step too far. Not a party political thing. I winced when Angela Rayner mocked Sunak’s height.
