CG facial animator at stop-motion studio; Blender teacher; Extensions platform moderator & add-on developer (Bool Tool, Keymesh, etc.)
A new boolean solver was added to Blender today: Manifold (only in alpha now).

Testing with Bool Tool on mesh with more than 500k vertices it consistently gives 20-40% better performance than Fast/Float and freezes a LOT less.

Writing new documentation for Bool Tool, good to learn what ACTUALLY happens when you press Ctrl+ Numpad- (it's not just quickly adding a modifier😄)

Keymesh now has thumbnails!

You can quickly generate previews for Keymesh blocks and see them beautifully lined up in the new Grid View UI.

Works for both animated objects and mesh versioning.

Finally figured out why some of the submissions on extensions.blender.org had the same issues and unreadable code.

It's the Serpens add-on. They've all been assembled in it.

It's quite a cool tool, but please if your goal is to make something published and production-ready, do not use it :(

#b3d tip:

🔴When texturing edges some try to mix the RESULT of Bevel node.

🟢Instead, plug the texture in the "Radius" of Bevel node directly.

Think of it this way: If nothing is plugged into socket it gives the same value throughout, BUT plugging noise tells it to use different value per-pixel.

Edge Flow, one of the most popular Blender modeling add-ons is now on the extensions platform :)

Just search for it in Blender preferences, enable it, and benefit from automatic updates for the rest of your life.

I spent last year animating faces for stop-motion puppets ✨

Sculpted & animated in Blender #b3d and 3D-printed separate object for each frame where the face needed to move. Then stop-motion animators attached to puppets and did their magic.

In total >800 faces printed.
