I'm always curious to understand how we got to the weird place we're at now.

America has had a number of anti-science movements (e.g. anti-evolution, anti-flouridation, anti-cigarettes cause cancer, anti-global warming), but the scope and scale of what we have now seems different.....

And yes, I agree. There's definitely been an anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-professional wave in the US. It's made folks distrustful of stuff we all used to take for granted.

Sadly, it will likely lead to poorer decision making.
I hate to say it, but I'm guessing the great mass of folks aren't going to be convinced until they see folks getting real sick all around them.
The UK really needs some economic realignment. Other countries in Europe have better economic models. Less reliance on the financial sector would be a good idea.

I hate to say this cause I'm pro-public transport, but I can't help but feel that the Purple Line was sorta DOA as soon as the decision was made to make it light rail.
