For a party that shouts about free speech, Reform are remarkably ignorant about what it actually means. We all (including kids & LGBTQ+ people) have an equal right to express ourselves so long as we don’t incite hate. It includes the right to access & share all forms of information. #UDHR #UNCRC

Thanks @theclpe.bsky.social for vital work! BUT so sad to see a drop in representation of racially minoritised characters, esp at a time of rising far right & hate-filled rhetoric. High-quality, inclusive books are vital for kids to feel safe, equal & inspired. Publishers, take note.
For the first time in its history, the annual CLPE #ReflectingRealities survey, funded by Arts Council England, reports an overall drop in the percentage of racially minoritised characters featured in published children’s books reviewed – from 30% in 2022 to 17% in 2023
