That does read here and so could very possibly be a reference to multure! The context suggests it would make sense too

It reads as McMishel & could easily be an ambiguous/misspelled variant of a common name like McMickel/McMichael

The only thing that pops to mind in Peebleshire is Miltonmill (near Manor) but I'm unsure if this dates earlier than c.18th. I can read Milt[x]myln here but its a stretch to be honest!
