Inside the breakroom of a home decor and furniture store, an employee named Katie brings over a wrapped sandwich and a can of soda to her co-worker Valerie, who is navigating a tablet with one hand, and writing something on a piece of paper with the other. Against the wall behind her is a bulletin board. Attached are a pamphlet that reads: "Union dues or a new phone. You choose!", a card, a document titled "Leave Policy, Updated 11/2025", and note that reads "Stop leaving food in the fridge!!! especially you, Mikey!!" signed by "Val". Katie says to her with a neutral expression: "Hey Val, I got you your turkey and provolone." The sandwich and soda can are placed on the table as Katie leans in, points towards Valerie's tablet screen and asks curiously: "Yo, is that your math homework? What's with all of those weird symbols?" Valerie puts down her pencil and opens the soda can with one hand as she responds: "It's calculus. You didn't learn it in school?" Valerie is now holding the soda can in her hand. Katie walks away with a smug expression, and says dismissively "Pshhh, hell if I remember! You're lucky I didn't forget to show up today!"
