A little #genealogy thought came to me today...
Family tree illustration with my personal quote, "Genealogy is...preserving history one person at a time."

I thought I'd give you some more feedback. When I click "following" or #genchat at top of screen I see your posts from your personal account. I can also see them if I click "feeds" then #genchat on left side of screen. But when I type #genchat in search bar + enter I can't see your #genchat posts.

This book is a little old, but I'm sure some of it can be applied to researching in ACPL genealogy center. The one I have is a 1989 edition. Internet Archives has a 1996 edition. archive.org/details/goin...

A5: That caught my eye earlier on their website. Looking a little more closely I see you can search it by surname. #GenChat

A4: I just noticed they have a monthly online newsletter/E-Zine called "Genealogy Gems". #GenChat

A3: Learn about the layout of the library so you know where everything is when you get there. Learn about their holdings & make specific lists of what you'll research when you get there. Pack a tote bag with genealogy materials you want to bring on your day trips to the library. #GenChat

A1: I'd love to take a virtual tour to see all of their vast holdings! #GenChat

Q1 #genchat ACPL is vast! How do you begin familiarizing yourself with their holdings and offerings?

Icebreaker: I've looked around on their site, but haven't really dove into their resources yet. #GenChat

My mistake. I thought you were talking about the #GenChat account. You were talking about your personal account. I don't see those.

I see your posts, but only after clicking on "latest". #Treeverne #GenChat

I just typed your BlueSky handle in the search bar and you appeared there. #Treeverne #GenChat

Cool. That sounds like something I want to learn. I'll look it up. #Treeverne #GenChat

Well, we're winding down for the evening. Thanks for all your stories, shares, questions, etc. tonight. Next time (October 10) we'll be chatting about the Allen County Public Library. I'm really curious about it! #genchat

Great news for Wisconsin researchers. The Wisconsin Historical Society is migrating over to a new and more efficient site. See what they currently have here:

I've used WieWasWie in the past. It's been a few years and I didn't realize it moved to a pay/subscription. At least there is still OpenArchives. They are my favorite for Dutch records. Very organized and efficient site!

Greedy Ancestry offers the test at a huge discount multiple times/year because they know they can make even more money by controlling your access to your own DNA info. So the discount you get is not really a discount when you have to pay extra to see more. Clever, but deceptive marketing.

You pay them if you want them to research your ancestors, but if you want to do your own research on the premises you STILL have to pay them. Absurd.😒

I checked FamilySearch Wiki for German research and found some info about the Archion site there.👇
