I remember when I thought turning 60 would make me "old." I love photographing the Australian night skies.

Lots of lovely sunspots!
Hopefully, this amount of sunspot activity translates to an outburst of the Aurorae in the coming days. I captured this image of the Sun using my DWARF 3 smart telescope, using its “Astro” function. 15th June, 2025, Sydney, Australia.
In complete contrast to the colours of my post last night (2nd June), today’s photo is of the Moon, looking very monochrome, indeed. This photo was taken using my DWARF 3 smart telescope. The Moon was 51% illuminated at the time, and its distance from Earth was 396,396 km (246,309 mi).
Four images of the Aurora Australis outburst on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, at Jervis Bay, Australia.
Here’s a photo of the Sun taken today, Friday, 30th May, from my home in Miranda, Australia, with my DWARF 3 smart telescope.

You make out several sunspots on the surface of our closest star, indicating potential increased activity for the aurora borealis and aurora australis.
Hehe.
Do you know what the definition of an actuary is? It's a finance professional who didn't have the personality to become an accountant!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s a landform that genuinely looks like the thing it’s named after. Horse Head Rock near Bermagui, Australia, even has a grassy mane! I photographed this natural wonder on May 3rd 2025, under the light of the stars and a setting moon.

Seeing this photo on my camera’s preview screen made me smile at its simplicity. I tipped the camera back on the tripod so it was pointing straight up and clicked the remote shutter’s button. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that bring so much joy.
The rusting remains of a 100-year-old barge rest in the waters of the Moruya River, Australia. The water’s still surface mirrors the rising Milky Way’s galactic core. The pink glow of Aurora Australis’s outburst colours the image’s bottom right-hand corner.
A colourful night scene near Bodalla, Australia, with green atmospheric airglow washing over the whole scene while the fading Aurora Australis skirts the horizon. The Small and Large Magellanic Clouds dominate the sky, along with a couple of companions that I’ve labelled in an accompanying image.
The Aurora Australis, captured near Tuross Head, Australia, 21st April 2025.
Will they press charges? Sounds like they've buttonholed him as guilty of a crime of fashion.
Our brains still have much hurt to suffer, methinks.
Old Croaky is a huge blight on the name of his family and an insult to the work of his Aunt.
Good: Shops not open on public holidays & Sundays, so ppl actually got to enjoy the day; no after hrs work contact.

Bad: no seatbelts in cars; no RBT, so DUI was more common; marital rape was OK; victims of DV & CSA told to not cause “trouble” by telling any one (I know it still happens, though).
I can’t help but wonder if the amount of money cut from NASA will equal the dollar amount that somehow magically ends up in the Space X coffers.
Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) low in the southwestern sky viewed from Tilba Cemetery, Australia, on 24th January 2025.
What is a politician if not a servant of the public? He’s happy enough to live off the public teat.
As usual, the cruelty is the point.
