Today, A5935 and A5936, bills sponsored by Assemblywomen Peterpaul and Reynolds-Jackson, were signed into law to strengthen transparency and accountability in New Jersey’s charter school system and keep the focus where it belongs: making sure every child receives the best education possible.

The Farmland and Woodland Tax Assessment Integrity and Investment Act (A6278) is now law. This legislation strengthens New Jersey’s Farmland Assessment Program by modernizing how eligibility thresholds are updated, improving transparency and creating a new online application portal.

Jersey Fresh is going offshore, and that’s a win for New Jersey. A3034 was signed into law this week, expanding the Jersey Fresh brand to include NJ-grown aquaculture products, such as fish and shellfish raised right here in our state waters.
The First Responders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Protection Act (A2145) is now law. This legislation provides job protections for paid first responders diagnosed with work-related PTSD, ensuring they can take leave to get help and return to their position when they’re cleared and ready.

Legislation that would extend job-protected family leave to more workers passed the Assembly. A3451 would expand access to the State’s Family Leave Act, ensuring more workers would have the security of knowing their jobs are safe when they need to take time from work to care for a family member.

A6166, advanced by the Assembly today, updates New Jersey law to ensure that insurance plans cover vaccines recommended by the State Department of Health, including routine childhood immunizations without cost sharing, and allows the DOH to make science-based recommendations on vaccines.
It’s a commonsense step that backs up law enforcement, deters dangerous behavior, and helps protect children and individuals with developmental disabilities.
