Pic from my talk "Penguins and Chop Girls: Remembering RAF Bomber Command ground personnel 1939-45" for the Lincoln Branch of the @histassoc.bsky.social last night. I really enjoyed it, and I got some wizard questions. @uolhumanities.bsky.social @nmtdambusters.bsky.social #History #WW2

I'm seeing posts on social media that today is the anniversary of one famous bomber pilot's death during the war. 15 other men were killed flying with Bomber Command on 19 Sept 1944, including John Lees (RCAF), Robert Emrose (RAAF), and William Woods (RAAF).

He looks very young. Head and shoulders b/w photo of William Woods in civilian clothes.

Went to the opening of an art exhibition tonight at The Palmer Gallery and can’t not notice that it is housed in a building with this kind of history. Accidental nerding. @nmtdambusters.bsky.social

Finally caught up with Part 2 of latest @nmtdambusters.bsky.social podcast. Oh my, you had me in tears, @lydiajane13.bsky.social … but I think the staff of Tesco’s must think me mad: the story of the prayers for Germany just stopped me dead mid-shopping. Thank you. @jamesjhistory.bsky.social
