I saw this posted on Twitter and think I got to pin it. I've been focusing so much on getting draws perfect from line one and never making mistakes. But I kind of have to do that to get to the good underneath - even asking for help or using tools to help 'make it good' once it exists.
Just kinda asking in general. I'm getting out of a long anxiety attack.

I don't usually use multiply layers. I kinda just use a solid color for mood and some gradients to get some minor toning in my colors.
I'd like to do more intensive rendering, though. Goals for later.

I'm going to avoid a lot of the art tutorial videos I've been binging lately. As helpful as drawing boxes is, it's been draining to my mental health; making me hate art.
I can practice some of this stuff okay with doing projects I like. I wont laze out but I want to have fun again...

How important would you say mastery of the fundamentals of art are to being a good artist?
I'm running into a lot of burnout when trying to study and do basic fundamental drawings to improve, but I don't feel like I'm really getting anywhere.

I gotta try doing backgrounds, I know that much. My character stuff is fine but placing stuff in a scene is really tough for me.

I'm kinda lost when it comes to measuring the proportions of these forms, so I run into trouble when drawing from a reference of, like, an object or something.
