An article from Chinese news site GameLook has information on Hoyo’s new game Varsapura

Here’s a quote:

GameLook estimates from the information learned that the development cost of "Varsapura" in the narrative questline has been several times, or even more than a dozen times that of "Genshin Impact" doing the same piece of content.

The combination of Al and the game, although not obvious in the PV released this time, will indeed be a major feature of "Varsapura". According to the previously released recruitment information, the game team ultimately wants to create a humanistic sandbox direction: not only to generate dialogue with Al NPCs, but more importantly, to drive large language models to generate a network in the city.

This means that in the future, the player's interactions with NPCs and their behavior in the city may affect the behavior and results of other NPCs - and can even connect with rich gameplay. For this idea, there is currently no ready-made benchmark in terms of technology or gameplay design, and the development team will be the first to eat crabs.

3A-level hyper-realistic urban open world - a genre that Chinese companies have never tried before.

GameLook learned from people close to the development team that the current "Varsapura" team is less than 400 people, which is close to the size of "Genshin Impact" in the same period.

I deleted and stopped playing Fortnite recently. It was honestly a big comfort game for me but that comfort was very quickly becoming outmatched by how uncomfortable all their decisions were making me.

SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.
