When I told a friend in the army about it, he contacted the airforce and they arranged storage on Deelen Airport for the Me 262. But I don’t know if they store the 262 there, or just got free storage.

Scrap metal to save conservation costs. I did it for free, but that didn’t look professional. So a professional was hired, but that drained the budget quickly. He did the same I did, but had never seen an Me 262 before. I told him about a few big parts what it was, that’s what’s on display now.

Yes, and I did the reconstruction and conservation in the first few years. I quit when a new museum board was just interested in the funds, and not in the 262. A few years ago they had the intention to scrap most of it to save costs, I’m not sure what’s left🤷🏻‍♂️

Here the dataplate for the wings, showing it is an improved (A1) model, and the 13th built. It had the small extra fueltank and new hydraulics and mechanism for the landinggear doors. The flaps still needed improvement according a report, water damage after 3 flight hours and 7 starts.

The article mentions 1st production model, but it was the last pre-production (S-21). Some parts like the electric components were still old type. It was built as a fighter, but converted to a bomber. It was shot down during transit from EK262 to KG51, probably lost.

In 2014 we recovered the last Me 262 prototype (S-21) near Arnhem. It was shot down by German troops who didn’t know what it was: A plane this advanced must be Allied.
The same day they mentioned a new revolutionary German fighter in the evening newspaper, a few hours too late🫠

Klopt, ik ben in m’n leven maar 4 keer gestoken, waarvan 1 keer door een wesp die tegen een voorbij denderende trein botste en de angel in mn nek belande.
Maar als je hoort dat je de volgende keer maar een paar minuten hebt voor een spuit, is het geen fijn gevoel als ze thuis overal kunnen zitten.

Daar zou ik normaalgesproken ook voor kiezen, maar ik ben allergisch voor wespensteken. Ik ben al een keer out gegaan op de SEH. In en om het huis wil ik ze dus meteen kwijt. Op een terras hou ik ze gewoon in de gaten, dan zijn m’n vrienden meer in paniek dat ik gestoken ga worden dan ik zelf.

Met de wespennesten spray van Bayer vallen ze meteen dood uit de lucht, alleen is het nest dan nog niet weg. Je moet het dus ook in het nest spuiten. Bij mij nooit meer wespen gezien.

Yes, in the beginning it was easy to hear the difference in engine sound for having no payload. At least, that was what I have been reading. Giving the wrong ratio real/decoy would tell ruSSia it is working.
