Labour promised 1000 GB Energy jobs in Aberdeen. Michael Shanks says it's not inconceivable it will create 1000+ jobs after its CEO told MPs he expected between 200 & 300. It's not inconceivable Shanks will grow a spine, but that's not going to happen either.

I may not have a high opinion of King Charles visiting a foodbank in Alloa.

Yesterday an English upper class billionaire of German descent paid a visit to a foodbank in Alloa, cos-playing as a Scotsman going to a wedding. Charles Windsor didn't drop in on the foodbank in order to make a multi-million pound donation, which could have kept it funded and well stocked for years, although he could easily have afforded it. In fact he didn't even donate as much as a packet of Duchy Originals Organic Highland All Butter Shortbread fingers.
The goal of the visit was to help put a shine on the very tarnished image of a scandal wracked royal family whose popularity in Scotland is in a plummeting contest with Keir Starmer's. This visit was not about what Charles could do for the foodbank, it was about what the foodbank could do for Charles. He probably thought that he was entitled to assistance from the foodbank as he is a benefits claimant who lives in subsidised housing, although entitlement oozes out every pore of the man, from his bejewelled hat to his Duchy Originals sausage fingers. Having patronised the natives, Charles then flew off in a helicopter, because nothing says you are empathetic with the struggles off the poor than flying away from them in a private aircraft which they have paid for out of their taxes.
