Undoubted highlight of the year so far was the first reserve record of HOOPOE, which flew over the Village Lake Viewing Platform and Car Park late morning. Bird also seen around nearby Farm buildings before flying off east.

Yearlist to end of September 2025 at North Cave Wetlands stands at 163 species with new birds for the month shown in Red.
The most unexpected bird of the month was probably the immature Gannet that flew past the reserve on the 30th, only the 6th record and first since 2013

Undoubted highlight of the month was the Black-crowned Night Heron. (Presumably last year's bird returning).

Adult Whinchat and juvenile Stonechat showed well on fence between Cells B and C this morning.

Adult showed well on Far Lake for c30mins early morning before flying to the north-east corner of Far Lake and lost to view.
