I'm northern - gaming, knitting and everyday stuff with cats and being an IT librarian. I'm fannish, but haven't written anything in years. I read SFF books.
I’m thinking of trying my plastic Christmas tree this year. I haven’t for years, because I’m worried the cats might try to eat it? But I won’t know unless I try, and it’s probably fun to climb.

Doing a formal budget at work for the first time, and it is so much money. How can I possibly know how much things are going to cost when we’re moving accounts around…

Today: presentation for the library heads of our ten municipalities. Then meeting with current domain host for the whole organization (across municipalities). Then meeting with the boss for this town's customer advocacy in preparation for a systems switch + meeting with her and prospective provider.

one of the grimmest things I’ve ever read, but happily it does contain the phrase “mysterious constellation of brutal practices”
Pointed out by my friend @carloshasanax.bsky.social . There's something weird and unsettling about a fairly homogeneous culture spread out across Europe that then collapses into an orgy of genocide.

Headless bodies hint at why Europe’s first farmers vanished
Wave of mass brutality accompanied the collapse of the first pan-European culture

Also, is job recruiting going a bit hard, or…?

Gävlebocken in progress. I walked past it at lunch.

Renewed CPR training today. Then making two people meet and talk and work together (they’ve been miscommunicating per email for weeks). Then I work evening.

Am very pleased. I was able to clasp a necklace behind my neck for the first time in months. :)

There's a thing I was supposed to go to in an hour but I decided not to. Resting instead.

Opal is complaining loudly that there is no bird entertainment outside. This is obviously my fault.

Okidoki, second internet conference day, with parallel managing of IT issues. I am, apparently, ordering 28 new computer screens?

Time for work. Snooze on, friends.

I seem to have acquired a tiny cold though. Hoping for zero fever.
November 24, 2025 at 6:16 PM
A really great thing though: my frozen shoulder has unfrozen a little bit and I can reach a little higher up! I was convinced it would take at least another six months to start that process, like the PT said. Very happy about it!

Yes Opal, I DID dump you there so I can knit. You are adorable, but I do need to do other things than be your bed at times.

I am so happy I'm starting early on my 2026 work project. This way I can fix problems that have popped up before they become huge.

Morning through the dirty window.

Ok, a serviceable lined mitten. I am getting tired of Zevran ruining them, let me tell you. This time I only used yarn I have no relation to.
November 23, 2025 at 4:55 PM
I am aware, Zevran, that this yarn is not perfect, but you still can’t chomp it.

Monday and Tuesday I’ll be watching a conference from home, but I need to dooooo stuff! Guess I’ll try my best to get other people to do them.

I was bad and looked at my work mail and discovered a problem that will cost money. Stress. My own fault for checking.

Finally went to the neighborhood compost and emptied my old flower pots. Took the trash out. Swept outside the catio.
The snow is gone, so I took the bird feeder down for now.

My mom and grandma were librarians so I grew up at libraries. I didn't study for it right away at university but thought about what I could realistically see myself doing, and got into it. I like details and keeping track of things so I got into cataloging, then IT project management for libraries.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?
