It's greenhouse cleaning day for me today. Clearing out plants, washing the interior, cleaning the glass, insulating it for winter and replacing shelving. The last of my tomatoes will be made into chutney later.

The weather is horribly temperamental this morning- rain one second, fair the next. So I'm drying some of my Age Of Reason silk scarves on an impromptu line in my studio. It makes a nice change to have such a colourful backdrop.

My dad used to keep pigs prior to WWII- when he had to sell his herd and sign up. He was very fond of his pigs, but always said never imagine that they wouldn't eat you given half a chance. They'll eat their own babies if they're stressed.

My potter husband @pottedhistory.bsky.social has a replica Roman kiln at Vindolanda, which he fires periodically. So we've often had cause to visit that section of The Wall.

We had some people move into our village- into a house just across the fence from the riverside playpark- which caters for younger children. Then complain about the "noise" of children playing. (They got very short shrift here!)
