Pip and Jane were interviewed in DWM 552 and mentioned the story, with Pip confirming that they had never actually done any work on it. Ian Levine insists that they were commissioned purely as a cover so that Eric Saward could write the story... 🙄

Oh, there are certainly commissioning documents relating to Gallifrey. They were commissioned on 1 March 1985 to write four episodes. They were paid for Episode 1, but when the idea was quashed, that payment went towards their writing of The Ultimate Foe (aka Vervoids) a year later.

There's virtually nothing about unmade stories (maybe the odd reference here or there) other than the contractual information for the writers involved. Just to clarify, what story are you referring to? 🙂

Another full week of work done at the BBC Written Archives for various forthcoming Doctor Who and Blake's 7 Blu-ray releases, as well as acquiring material for other future projects. 6298 images obtained, totalling 16GB worth of scans and photos. Phew! 🙂

Will we get a "Yartek, Leader of the alien Voord" in there?

It was 50 years ago today that the last episode of Terror of the Zygons was broadcast and today, lots of Doctor Who fans will be going to the BFI to watch the newly restored version. Hope everyone has a good time watching a great story. Come and say hello!

Sixty-two years ago this morning, the very first live-action shots for Doctor Who were filmed at Ealing Film Studios.

What have you been looking at, James? Are you allowed to tell?

Yes, his address was in one of the local newspapers, confirmed by a check of the electoral registers of the time. He lived alone, no indication that he was ever married.

Did you see the comment I made about the source of Dodo's "cockney" accent on Toby's Patreon site? 😁

It would have been one of the pictures taken during Polystyle's access to the production of The Daemons.

I think I noted this in the production subtitles back in the DVD days!

Good thought, Jim! I'll give that a go. 😀

A long shot this one... 21 years ago, well-known Doctor Who collector, Mick Hall, sold a 16mm film print of Episode 6 of The Chase on eBay. It was won by a collector with the buyer name of "sad-bidder". Does anyone know where the film print ended up or who "sad-bidder" was?

I don't know, but it might be related to the "pooplicator" in Ian Levine's "accurate" episode notes for The Massacre that he wrote when he was twelve. 🤣

I wonder if this is the box you could see in the 1990s close to the track as you went past the college on the Northern Line?
nothinglane.bsky.social
No, just the Doctor Who releases.

This brings the grand total across the 18 releases so far to 70,786 pages! Apologies for the delay. The last items were only slotted into place on Friday.
