imo from the 4 (twin sized) quilts Ive done, the basting is the easiest part of making the quilts. I use lots of large safety pins & sew with the front on top and slowly sew in the ditches!

It’s the edge binding that gets me 😭 mine are usually functional but a little ugly. Premade bias tape helps!
