"What's it like, being the UK's first Black woman professor of history?"

Yesterday: imagine managing to get the last seat on a packed train even in 1st class, just to be confronted by a frail 75+ White man who decided that the only Black person in the carriage (and NOT the only person who got on that carriage) couldn't possibly have a 1st class ticket.

When you’re alone in the museum office and have got lots and lots of documents to number….the Bollywood music will be playing loud.

I'll leave this here. As a reminder of how we failed as a humanity. Of how international laws don't apply to everyone equally. How this was us yesterday, them today but could be YOU tomorrow.

Shame on us. All.

Stop genocide in Palestine TODAY! No more excuses. Enough is enough!

PERSON OF THE DAY. 15 September 1928. Alexander Fleming discovered the antibiotic penicillin in the mold Penicillium Notantum. It was later turned into a life-saving antibiotic drug by Howard Florey, Ernst Chain and their colleagues at Oxford University. All involved won Nobel Prizes.

Hoe Street station, Walthamstow. 📷 Early 20th cent postcard from VHM collection, available in our Searchroom. Opened by the GER in 1870, Hoe Street station became Walthamstow Central in Sep 1968, when the underground Victoria line opened from Walthamstow Central to Highbury & Islington. #Railway200

“One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.”

Really recommend seeing the 19th century replica of the Bayeux Tapestry at Reading Museum. No crowds so you can get up close and read the explanation for each scene. Great preparation before hopefully seeing the real one next year.

Frog walked into the house. It was dark. All the shutters were closed. “Toad, where are you?” called Frog.

“Go away,” said the voice from a corner of the room.

Gary Lineker gets his biggest cheer of the night by far from the audience for saying his award was for "speaking up for those who have no voice"

We know why Gary won.
