I read LA Metro documents for fun.
LA Metro’s Reddit account says that the meetings have been postponed and that Metro needs more time before sharing the Draft EIR.

‪Comment from Move LA on Reddit: they say they are also hearing EIR may be delayed or not even released because ridership doesn’t justify the cost. ‬

That leaves a lot of time to find money for the shortened phase 1. Measure R/M directly provide about $3.6 billion (which would be increased for inflation). State/federal match would bring that up to a lot, if compared to how poorer performing Bay Area projects have done with grants.

Metro’s elongated planning process has Draft EIR released for 1 year before LPA vote (see K Line Torrance and Hollywood extensions EIRs), take 2-3 years to finalize after LPA vote (3-4 years after Draft EIR release). Also, phasing projects (see ESFV, K North, Eastside E, A to Montclair).

Measure R/M (which can only fund Westside projects), federal, state. Since Garcetti left, there isn’t really a board champion for the project as there is for other projects, which may be one big issue for the project.

LA Metro’s community meetings planned this week for Sepulveda Transit Corridor have been cancelled. According to what Nick Andert is hearing, there is a chance that LA Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins may be trying to cancel the project.
I am hearing some, uh, VERY concerning things about the sepulveda line... trying to get more confirmation but it seems there's a chance Metro (presumably Stephanie Wiggins) is trying to wholly spike the project without releasing the EIR

You mean just the Sepulveda meetings, right? They have lots of other advisory committee meetings this week.

Their calendar page goes down from time to time and often is pretty broken.

April 2025 LA Metro presentation on LA River Path project. Draft EIR coming this year, with board selection of alignment in 2026. Looking at 3 options. At least 46% of path would be elevated (where owners do not make enough land available).
