Fold3.com recently announced that the War of 1812 Pension Files now include surnames beginning with U and V.

These pensions were granted to the veteran, his widow or his heirs. The indexing is now 88% complete.

The Orange County Genealogical Society, located in Goshen, NY, will have an Open House on Saturday, Oct. 4, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Come learn what materials are available at the society. Volunteers will be on hand to help with research and free information packets will be distributed.

The Polish Genealogical Society of New York State will be holding a genealogy fair this Saturday, Sept. 13 in Elma, NY.

There will be representatives from several #genealogy societies in the area ready to help you get started with your family tree or help with those brick walls.

The Jefferson County Historical Society, located in Watertown, will be hosting a History and #Genealogy Fair this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Paddock mansion.

There will be many historical and genealogical organizations in attendance as well as two lectures.

Reclaim the Records recently announced that it has added about 1.5 million new names and more basic biographical information about deceased American veterans from the 2020-2023 period to its BIRLS database.

This brings the total to over 19.5 names of US veterans. To search it, go to: www.birls.org
