Album of the Day 945
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Another record from my student days. It works really well on a cracking spring morning. I love this album but nothing else by PS matches it. I remember seeing Primal Scream & the Orb at Glastonbury in 1992 (I think?), The Orb were brilliant ...

Plant43 - The Unfading Spark
You can't go wrong with a Quiet Details release. This is lovely music. Allowed me to smash out some work & now I'm going to listen to it properly! Also, this introduced me to Plant43 & I'm slowly buying more of their releases; more lively but v good.

Album of the Day 943
Faex Optim - Solar Drift
Picks up where 'Crystal Pleasures' left off. That was one of my favourite albums of 2023 and I can see this one being up there for this year. FO's sound continues to evolve & is becoming something quite distinct. I love it.

Album of the Day 942
Bill Callahan - Dream River
A laidback & relaxed album for a Sunday. Loved this for years but I don't know much more BC material. This though, is a fantastic album that really hits the mark. Must investigate some more of his stuff (any recommendations?).

Album of the Day 941
Jaga Jazzist - A Livingroom Hush
Weekend jazz (or jazz adjacent). Another album from my Ninja Tune days (late 90s/early 00s). A good eclectic album mixing jazz, acoustics, electronics. On a number of songs, it reminds me of Stereolab (which is a good thing).

Big thanks to @theblackdog.bsky.social A beautiful package waiting on the porch. Three parcels in two days! Has Christmas come early? Really looking forward to listening to this one ...

Just finished "There is No Antimemetics Division" by qntm. Slightly weird book that really reminded me of The Illuminatus! Trilogy (which it acknowledges with the mention of fnords). Enjoyed it. Made me think.

Album of the Day 940
Ben Chatwin - Heat & Entropy
Damn, this album is good. Stunning mix of acoustic & electronic instrumentation. It has a sadness at its heart but is expressive & uplifting. One of the albums that I listen to constantly (yet somehow has waited 939 entries to make this list!)

Like buses, parcels always come in twos ... nice surprise from @castlesinspace.bsky.social and @waysideandwoodland.bsky.social (obviously a big thanks to both as well ... I'm about to look smart while listening to good music!)

Album of the Day 939
Ben Lukas Boysen - Mirage
Great mix of live instrumentation & electronics result in an engrossing & almost cinematic (cliché alert) album. Really enjoy this (and have really enjoyed the evolution of BLB).

Album of the Day 938
Talvihorros - Eaten Alive
The closest of the Talvihorros releases to the later Ben Chatwin albums. Tense, claustrophobic soundscapes. The sound design & composition makes repeated listens a must. Highly recommended.

Album of the DAY 937
Portishead - Roseland NYC Live
My favourite Portishead album. A more visceral, raw (even with a full string section) take on the first two albums. The vocals are more captivating as well. Love it.

Album of the Day 936
The Black Dog - Sleep Deprivation
Another stunning album from tBD. Harks back to some classical music mixes they did a few years ago. Expansive, almost symphonic but there is a sinister, unsettling undertone. Captivating listen.

Just finished "Dogs of War" by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Absolutely loved this. Great world building. The characters, especially Rex, were well fleshed out. It was believable. The (ethical) themes of book were covered well (and not too preachy). Recommended.

Album of the Day 935
Ian Boddy & Bernhard Wöstheinrich - Moiré
You can't go wrong with any release on the DiN label, especially if it involves IB. More rhythmic than other releases but shares the same dense sound design that makes repeated listens a must. dinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/moir-d...

Album of the Day 934
Steven Wilson - Last Day of June
Mellow & melancholic. Great soundtrack to Tuesday.

Album of the Day 933
M. Ward - More Rain
It's Monday. I needed an upbeat album & this ticks all the boxes. You know what you are going to get with M.Ward songs & luckily it's just what I needed. I love all his albums, they capture a mood so perfectly.

Album of the Day 932
Max Richter - Taboo
Another storming soundtrack from Max Richter & a great listen on a Sunday afternoon.

Album of the Day 931
RJD2 - Deadringer
Another album I played to death back in the day but haven't listen to in years. Just too much good music & not enough time (or money). I think this will be making the journey to my phone for the walk to work next week. It is still ace.

Album of the Day 930
Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress
I used to listen to this all the time...then stopped. Not sure why. Should start again as it is gloriously orchestrated & the kind melancholy I love.

Album of the Day 929
The Sisterhood - Gift
Underrated in my opinion. Moody, atmospheric tracks that lay the groundwork for bits of Floodland. I find myself listening to this more than many of the other SoM releases.

Album of the Day 928
Various Artists - Undulating Waters 6
A wonderfully mellow compilation. Love the variety of music, yet it still seems cohesive. Top stuff. It goes without saying that the other albums (or at least the ones I've got) in this series are also highly recommended.

The Future Sound of London - A Controlled Vista
Really enjoying this mix, had it on loop for the last two days & keep hearing new things each listen.

Album of the Day 926
Andrea Parker - Kiss My Arp
Forgotten how good this is. Lovely melancholy sound, thoughtful but crunchy beats. The original point of this list was to find 'lost' CDs from my collection (but sometimes I don't get the chance) & today's is a real gem. Wish she had released more.

Album of the Day 925
Nala Sinephro - Endlessness
A relaxed end to Saturday with some sparse/minimal/ambient jazz. Not sure how to describe this but happy to get lost in it.
