Ugh, the Tilly Norwood/AI segment on CBS Sunday Morning. The best part of it was Sean Astin's response.

I take YouGov surveys for fun sometimes, and they have surveyed me about Meta and the metaverse like 15 times (assume it's a contracted survey by Meta). I never understood why Meta thought it would be a huge thing.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the ‘Metaverse’ has cost Meta more than $77B

The company now plans to cut spending on it and shift focus to AI wearables instead

My grandpa is suddenly, actively dying, I drove 2.5 hours each way to see my son's college basketball team lose (right after lying next to my grandpa in his death bed), and Ohio State gave their conference championship game away today.

Wow, Ohio State with a colossal mistake.

What a waste of a possession by Ohio State. With all time outs remaining, too.

I guess Bluesky hates Ohio State. Interesting to try to follow posts about the game on here.

It's an interesting demographic observation that my gym changed its daycare center to a 55 and over personal training space this year.

There are so many people living lives of quiet dignity despite horrific medical news or poverty or tragedy where every day they still wake up and try to be good people in the world even as the world pushes against them and it makes me even angrier at the absolute shitheads that rule over things

It's actually like, the explicit point of USPS that it CAN'T make a profit.

It is not profitable to deliver mail and packages to every single address in America. The point of the USPS is to ensure everyone can get mail, not to generate revenue. It's a cost, not a loss

This is actually so great. I appreciated the quote about (paraphrased) how the older you get, the higher you climb in a high rise and the more you get to see where you can be of service.
“The heavy metal band Metallica has not only changed lives with their music; they've also changed lives with their philanthropy – from donations to food banks and disaster relief, to the band's charity All Within My Hands, which has donated to workforce education and other critical services.” 1/2

I bet this is true in my research institute.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.
