Labour cannot use the inheritance excuse for the choices made in the Budget.

They made political choices to pull more people into higher bands of taxation in order to appease their backbenchers. The Tories were not the cause of that.

If they had frozen spending instead, they could have blamed them
‘I’m working all the hours God sends… and you’re coming at me for more.’

Labour’s Peter Kyle responds to a common concern from @shelaghfogarty.bsky.social’s listeners.

Got this as one of Grandma’s Christmas presents and cannot wait to read it.

She was born in 1936. She has seen 21 Prime Ministers, four British monarchs, 15 US Presidents, the rise and fall of fascism, the collapse of communism, the Great Depression, the Great Recession.

So much history!

In terms of pure speed, in the commercial aerospace world we are still in 1968.

The IMF apparently does not have the funds to bail out both Britain and France in the event both nations go bankrupt.

So who is going to win the race for a bail out?

One thing I’m struggling to get used to in my apartment is how quiet it is late at night.

In my old place I could wake up literally at 3am and look at the centre and see people walking etc - and I found that very calming/comforting.

Not having that does feel quite different.
