When I helped my father-in-law move, we put him in an Airbnb in Hornsby, and the cost wasn't much more than renting (but it was only for a month). I didn't understand how they made any money: a month or two of vacancies, and you have a cash flow problem (if you rent or have a mortgage).

I wonder what his expenses are? Cleaning and other activities aren't cheap if you don't do it yourself. Maybe the rent covers electricity, water, rates etc. (I haven't rented in 40 years).

Without defending this (as we own a suburban AirBnb, but it is zoned 1A), there is a fair bit of work involved, cleaning, preparation etc. Without that, there isn't much of a better return than just renting.

Last one is Stay. I hadn't subscribed, and did that a week or two ago, and noticed there were some episodes I hadn't heard. Which are better than the political podcasts I can no longer cope with.

My favourite so far - love the Asian music I'd never really heard before, and Trent Yarwood's choices are fantastic. And then there's David F Porteous's choices. Oh well.

The government not monitoring that email, even if they said it wouldn't be is not how any emergency email should be handled.

Why are the Department of Communications creating email addresses and then not monitoring them? I don't think it's acceptable, even if you send out notifications. Automated systems can go back years and may still use them. I do think bureaucrats don't understand IT. #auspol
