Contemporary Artist @ Portland Studio | Creative design, Photography, Art, Poetry, Motivational speaker. Olympic Artist, Olympic Medalist.
11 Jan 1987 — Matsutaro Shoriki Cup, Tokyo 🇯🇵

Only three on the podium because I had to fight Eddie Lyddy for bronze — an Olympic bronze medallist from LA ’84.

Proud to be the first ever lightweight to medal in Japan.

Respect. Experience. Memories.

Happy memories indeed. Competing in Potsdam, East Germany, and narrowly losing the final. Passing through Checkpoint Charlie on 23 March 1986 crossing into what was once behind the Berlin Wall. Sport, history, perspective.

Meeting one of my heroes, Yury Sokolov.

CORE
Inspired by a concrete core sample from the bedrock beneath New York City the unseen foundation that supports its iconic skyline.

A sculptural study of permanence, resilience, and what everything is built on.

It’s a mad, mad world we’re living in
full of noise, fear and division.

Pause.
Breathe.
Don’t walk the road of despair.

We chose leaders for hope, not hate.
We’re still human
same air, same sun, same grief.

In the end,
what matters isn’t power,
but how we behaved.

When interiors and great art come together, that’s when the real magic happens. Art has the power to transform a space to add emotion, energy, and meaning beyond the walls that hold it.

Working With the Wild

Nature doesn’t shout.
It shows in broken branches, cracked ground,
and beauty that survives despite the damage.

It can be cruel,
but within that cruelty lies elegance,
resilience, and balance.

When we fight nature,
we fight ourselves.

LA84 is where my dream came true.

When I first stepped onto the tatami, I was just a boy with a dream.
When I stepped off it, an Olympic medallist, my life had changed beyond belief.

That moment didn’t just shape my sporting career it shaped who I became.

Painting, to me, is physical. It’s movement, rhythm, and flow. It’s the body responding before the mind has time to intervene The creativity lives in that space where instinct takes over and the work begins to breathe. It’s never really about the destination The real meaning is found in the journey
January 15, 2026 at 3:10 PM
It all starts in the sketchbook.
This is where ideas are tested, pushed and allowed to evolve before becoming finished work. Layers of drawings, notes and experiments the messy, honest part of the creative journey.

As part of The Art of the Olympians, I’m working with a brilliant group of schools in Brooklyn, New York. In our last session, the young people asked me when I’d be starting work towards the LA28 Olympics a great question.

It’s going to be cold,
so wrap up warm.
Mother Nature may bring a storm,
wind caught in her hair,
ice in her gaze.

But beneath the chill
are kindness and wishful thoughts
a quiet reminder
that even the cold
is shaped with care.

One month to go.

My latest piece celebrating the build-up to the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Abstract mountains and movement come together, with the Olympic rings embedded into the landscape where sport and place become one.

Back in the studio finishing New York, New York, New York
Layers of maps, architecture and repetition reflect the rhythm and energy of the city, with the Empire State anchoring the work. This piece is being completed as part of an upcoming project with schools in Brooklyn, New York.

I’ve been in the studio for weeks, playing with an idea to celebrate Milan–Cortina 2026. From a simple sketch of snow-covered mountains, to adding the words Excellence, Respect & Friendship, and the Olympic rings to bring it all together it’s been a journey.
