I borrowed your motif. Thanks for sharing, it is a lot of fun.

It's October!

I'm still playing with the transparent red oxide, which today I realized smells like blood from all the iron.

I borrowed some of this motif from @fiendfables.bsky.social whose work I found today and greatly admired.

This is great. How did you do the little bit of white negative space that creates the depth between the orange lines and burgundy pen? Did you use some kind of masking or did you just draw carefully with the pen?

I wanted to experiment with the transparent red oxide.

I'm still messing with this motif.

That's amazing. Did you have to negative-space cut all the leaves?

I was doodling in my sketchbook and decided to extend a couple motifs as a little watercolor painting. I penciled in the drawing, and I think that was a mistake. The ink-only figures in the sketchbook were more spontaneous and animated.

It's great, the morning colors are perfect because of the shadows. Well done!

I really dig the better-quality hot press paper. It just doesn't tear, and I can go a lot further messing with different kinds of masking.

I usually use relatively cheap paper, but I've been trying to do some masking with artist tape, and it always rips. Even when I tape the edges, it rips. I cut some higher quality arches paper, and I'm happy with the result. No tearing.

I've been working more with abstract watercolors. I liked this one so much, I did a much larger version, but it's too big for my scanner, so this will have to do.

I cracked open my copy today, and while I usually encourage my kids read them, they're not gonna see this issue. 🫠
I really like this one. I've been struggling to render a fire on a beach at dusk. Thanks for the great example.
I'm just shocked about the ROI on the donations. Last year, they erased nearly $7 million with raised ~$40k - a 175x return.

Imagine absolutely drowning in medical debt and one day receiving a letter that your debt had been bought and canceled without warning by strangers - the ecstatic relief.
The people demanded the return of the show, and the people's demands have been heard!

What a treat!
The world's most indispensable arts podcast is back, with a new episode out now on all your usual platforms. Another episode out tomorrow, then weekly.
Those look great. How large is the painting?
This is great!

The background looks like a big, wet wash. Did you preserve the flower and branches while doing the wash, or did you just paint over them?
This is great, and incredibly difficult to get the complicated perspective right. Well done!
This is great, awesome job on the perspective and especially showing the light through the tall windows. How large is this?
That's great. Is this oil or acrylic?
It's already much better, thank you!
If the goal of the feed is "show me what people are working on", which is what I'm here for, blacklisting particular accounts from the feed is the best solution, IMHO.

It's not punitive, but curation. I think it's great we have accounts posting public domain art - just not in this particular feed.
Thank you - it really is one of my favorite feeds.

I find it's been taken over a bit by a few content accounts mass-posting public domain or well-known artists' paintings. I look forward to the change.

I'm personally looking to see individuals posting their own work.

Thanks for maintaining it!
