So, nearly five years since my last cycle tour holiday - early in the pandemic in 2020, between lockdowns, from Bordeaux to Carcassonne - I’ve finally organised the next one. In May I’m going to cycle from Nevers in the upper Loire, following the river or its Lateral Canal down to Orléans

“A poor man’s idea of a rich man, a stupid man’s idea of a smart man, a weak man’s idea of a strong man.”
He only looks smart because his lies have overwhelmed a political culture that didn’t know how to respond to them. If I were a Trump fan, I’d start worrying about what happens when that stops. trib.al/OGYugHQ
America Is Finally Starting to See Trump for the Bullsh*t Artist He Is
He came to power through a relentless assault of lies. But the debt owed to the truth is coming due.

Trump’s Ukraine “peace plan” is a capitulation to Russia that would hand Putin a strategic advantage and hobble European security.

European leaders must wake up to the reality that we cannot rely on the US, and must write our own destiny.

I'm so pleased that the two-child benefit cap has been scrapped, something the Lib Dems have long campaigned for.

However, the Chancellor missed a huge opportunity to reverse the £90bn a year cost of the Tories botched Brexit deal and announce a new UK-EU Customs Union.

In my Dublin hotel room last night I watched an Irish TV doc on trump’s assault on the rule of law, democratic accountability etc which I don’t think the BBC would dare to transmit.
It was really frightening.
The US is basically becoming a clone of putin’s russia.
Don’t go there, it’s not safe.

These men will now be paid actual money for their analysis of today’s budget.

Hearing Rachel Reeves explain why it is so important to lift hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty is a reminder of what a Labour government can do. It is also a reminder of how little of this sort of thing they have done and how much more needs to be done.

Wonderful. Now Labour plan to "destroy justice as we know it".

Anything else they're going to wreck on their way out of office?

Remember: it is ALWAYS much easier to break things than to restore them. So their reckless legacy will linger long after they're gone.

Small price to pay to fully empower the UK Parliament, Britain's most trusted institution filled with its most beloved and inspiring leaders.
Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.
